I prefer a nut oil like walnut or almond. For a skillet I&#8217;ll be using cast iron.\u00a0 I\u2019ve trimmed the ends on about half the sprouts and for the other half, I\u2019ve trimmed the ends and cut them in half.\u00a0 That\u2019s it!\u00a0 Fire up the grill and get ready for a quick method of adding great wood-fired flavor.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-2639\" src=\"https:\/\/www.smokinlicious.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/SPROUTS-ADDED-e1513164088144-150x83.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"83\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.smokinlicious.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/SPROUTS-ADDED-e1513164088144-150x83.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.smokinlicious.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/SPROUTS-ADDED-e1513164088144-300x166.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.smokinlicious.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/SPROUTS-ADDED-e1513164088144-768x425.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.smokinlicious.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/SPROUTS-ADDED-e1513164088144.jpg 975w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It only takes a couple of pieces of wood chunk to bring fabulous flavor to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinlicious.com\/blog\/how-to-turn-your-lpgas-grill-into-a-smoker\/\">grill<\/a>.\u00a0 I set up a cast iron pan on one side and place two cherry wood chunks on the heat shields of the far burner.\u00a0 Let the pan heat up for about 5 minutes then pour in a couple of tablespoons of oil and heat.\u00a0 Right before I add the Brussels sprouts, I add a couple of tablespoons of butter.\u00a0 In go the whole Brussels sprouts and the lid comes down.\u00a0 Leave untouched for about 5 minutes before turning.<\/p>\n<h2><strong><em>Flavor Finish<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>As I have two recipes in mind I\u2019m cooking two batches of Brussels sprouts: one batch whole and one batch halved.\u00a0 After leaving for 5 minutes, I stir them to ensure that all surfaces are infused with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinlicious.com\/blog\/how-much-wood-to-add-when-smoking\/\">wood flavor<\/a>.\u00a0 I maintain a temperature of 350-375\u00b0 F which will make this a quick cooking method.\u00a0 The first 5 minutes, the lid is down but once stirred, you can finish the cooking with lid up.\u00a0 Remember, cast iron will retain heat, so you can turn the heat off and let sit for about 5 minutes.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2641\" src=\"https:\/\/www.smokinlicious.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/20-minute-clock.png\" alt=\"The cooking time for this recipe is approximately 20 minutes\" width=\"112\" height=\"112\" \/>After stirring a couple of times, both the whole and halved Brussels sprouts are ready in about 20 minutes time.\u00a0 I simply remove them from the heat and bring them in to be added to my favorite recipes.<\/p>\n<p>I have two recipes I\u2019ll be working on: Smoky Brussels Sprout Gratin and Tortellini with Lemon and Smoked Brussels Sprouts.\u00a0 These truly are the most flavorful Brussels sprouts!
